Rehab Facilities Near Me: Why They're So Beneficial

I have had many loved ones now go through substance abuse rehab. Their mental health needed a huge check and inpatient treatment was the way to do that. Looking for a rehab facility was easier than they realized, they found amazing options close to home. While it seems like going far away is the best option for inpatient drug or alcohol treatment, going to a place close to you is an amazing choice. Here is why.

Your Addiction Treatment Will Feel More Supported

Going to a treatment program that is closer to home means your loved ones will be close by. While you may want to get away from them, it’s still nice to find a recovery center near them in case you’re feeling lonely. For all of medical detox, you won’t have contact with them. You’ll still get a break from family life to focus on yourself.  Your recovery center understands that you might need to separate yourself from them, but you will want to see them quickly as you get deeper into the drug recovery process.
When one of my family members went to a residential drug treatment program, we didn’t get to talk to her at all. When we finally were able to, she missed us a lot and was excited to see us again after her drug treatment. She was also a completely different person and excited that she went to a center near home, so she could come back and show off her new self. It was amazing.
Similar support occurred when my brother checked into inpatient rehab. He forgot something he needed and we could easily drive it to him. Those little acts of support make such a difference in the life of someone in residential treatment.
Having loved ones close by simply feels more comforting. There are plenty of rehab centers near major residential areas that are still secluded, so you don’t feel like you’re in the heart of your hometown. The treatment process is something you want your family close by for. This way, you can feel their support on the smallest and largest levels.

Remote Treatment Centers Can Overwhelm You

Residential inpatient treatment at a place that is a plane ride away can be really overwhelming. Imagine going to a treatment facility and not knowing any of your surroundings. Imagine picking up and moving to a place that you don’t typically go to. That can throw your mental health for a spin.
While going to a remote place can be really beautiful, it’s not necessary for a smart recovery. There are treatment options everywhere. You can find helping hands anywhere, more or less. Going closer to home will give you that safety net to fall back on if you don’t like where you’re going.
It is common for people going through residential treatment to leave inpatient rehab and try to live in their new area. In theory, this sounds smart because it is like starting over. You get away from possible substance abuse habits. In actuality, it’s not always a smart decision because there is a whole entire place around you that you haven’t been before. If you’re not used to big changes, being in a new place is a huge change could be counterproductive.

Post Inpatient Rehab Life is Easier

After inpatient rehab, it’s common to go into sober living. There are many places to live that are run by your recovery center. They’re monitored for relapse prevention. You’ll probably want to continue going to behavioral therapy and to alcoholics anonymous. You’ll continue the treatment process with outpatient rehab. Being close to home makes this so much easier.
You’ll find that going into sober living is a whole new challenge. Even if your detox center helped you find clarity during inpatient alcohol and drug rehab, putting that into practice is a whole new challenge. Substance abuse disorder gets worse when there are triggers in your life that you aren’t supported with.
Having your family close by to help you with the transition to sober living is so beneficial. Detox centers are very big on making sure family connections become stronger throughout the recovery process. They want you to understand that your loved ones would do absolutely anything to help you succeed.
Leaving a rehab center near home,  you also know what’s around you. In a huge change like coming back from using drugs or alcohol, you need that comfort. You’re jumping into a new lifestyle and the familiarity of the place you live will provide you with something to fall back on.

Inpatient Rehab Will Cost Less

No matter what kind of rehab you’re going to, whether it be drug rehab or alcohol rehab, it’s cheaper to go to an addiction treatment center near home. While you would be subsidized if the rehab center was public,  you would still have to pay for travel. Your loved ones would also have to pay for travel there and back.
Having a financial burden on yourself or your loved ones can cause a lot of stress. Your mental health is already in a rocky place. You need to be able to find amazing inpatient care, but you don’t have to look very far to find it. Find a rehab facility that you feel comfortable in and you won’t care that it’s so close to home.

Addiction Treatment Is the Right Step

Going somewhere far away can make people forget that they’re going to inpatient drug rehab and not on vacation. The freedom of being around new people in a new place can cause substance abuse. There are many distractions when you’re in a new place because you just want to see what makes the place special.
No matter how distracted one might get, they should always remember that choosing to come to inpatient treatment is the right choice. Going to a rehab facility near home is an even better choice because it’s all around way less stressful. It gives you a subtle change of scenery without making you overwhelmed.
